The routine means there are no surprises and you quickly adapt to the simple surroundings. After a short time you feel safe because you know that nothing can happen to you. I think The White Door shows quite impressively how important it is to establish a routine. But the deeper you dig, the more unclear it becomes whether it really was an accident and whether there may be another reason why Robert's memories have disappeared. As the game progresses, it turns out that Robert had an accident and just can't remember it.

If you were to ask me what kind of game it is I would say that The White Door is a drag and drop point and click adventure and if like me you also look at the (negative) reviews of the game you'll come across statements like "repetitive" and "routine." Since I like to play puzzle games of all kinds from time to time, the decision was relatively easy for me. But I didn't realize that the game was also by Rusty Lake and when I was looking for a shorter game I came across the White Door while browsing through the library. Thanks to some reviews from friends, I became aware of it and of course I bought it right away in the summer sale. Well, if I'm being honest, I hadn't heard of Rusty Lake at all.
